The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (BNS) has replaced the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (IPC). The corresponding provision to Section 394 IPC is Section 311 BNS.
Section 311 BNS deals with voluntarily causing hurt while committing or attempting to commit robbery. For a conviction, the prosecution must establish the essential ingredients of robbery or attempted robbery, the accused’s involvement, and the voluntary causing of hurt through legally admissible evidence.
